Welcome to Lakewood United Methodist Church in North Little Rock, Arkansas!
On Sunday, June 7, we will celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the people called Lakewood United Methodist Church. The first meeting of our church was held in the cafeteria of Lakewood Elementary on June 5, 1955 with 38 people in attendance. By the end of the summer of 1955, 98 persons had become charter members. We rented space from Lakewood Elementary for more than three years before we built our first worship space, the room we now call “Gibson Hall,” and in the first ten years, we grew to a membership of 1077 people! It is clear that God had a vision for our church from the beginning, and God has a vision for us today. The key to discovering the vision to which God is calling us is to remember our “story.” Join us for this great celebration! And please help us spread the word to past members and friends…all are invited!
9:00 am – 10:15 am: Holy Communion in the Sanctuary
The sanctuary will be open during this “come and go” time for Holy Communion. We will be honoring the saints of our church, those who have come before us, during this time of quiet reflection.
9:00 am – 10:15 am: Reception and Fellowship in Gibson Hall
Come early for a time of fellowship and refreshments.
10:30 am: ONE Worship Celebration in Wesley Hall
We are moving over 550 chairs into Wesley Hall and it would be a blessing to fill them all! We have planned a great worship service with lots of music and our guest preacher will be Rev. Richard Lancaster. There’s also a 60th anniversary video that you won’t want to miss! Childcare for children 6 years and under will be provided during the worship service.
12:00 noon: Celebration Luncheon at Lakewood Elementary
The free lunch will be catered by Simply the Best and will be held in the new cafeteria at the school. Unfortunately space is limited to about 350 people, so if you plan to attend the luncheon, we’d appreciate it if you could RSVP by calling the church office at 753-6186 or sign up on Sunday morning.Lakewood Methodist, you'll find worship services that are relevant, inspiring and authentic.

Many families choose Lakewood because of our programs and faith development for children and youth. Our nursery, Sunday Schools, youth programs, AfterCare Express and Mothers Day Out programs are all staffed by experienced, certified teachers, and our facilities are top-notch. And we've got lots of classes for adults of all ages.
We're also very active in serving our community. We're still aglow from Super Bold Sunday, when we made over 16,000 meals for hungry Arkansans in one Sunday morning!
You're welcome to learn more about what Methodists believe and you're invited to join Lakewood in our mission to "Expand the Light by seeking, serving and sharing the message of Jesus Christ."
