Welcome to Lakewood United Methodist Church of North Little Rock, Arkansas!
We are currently in Lent, that period of the church calendar which began on Ash Wednesday, February 18 (thus the color scheme of our website), and will end the Saturday before Easter. It is a 40 day (not including Sundays) period of preparation for Easter, a deepening experience of fellowship with God through meditation, prayer, devotional reading, and helpful ministry to others.
During Lent, our Sunday sermons (beginning March 8) and our 6:30 pm Wednesday night study in Applied Light coffeehouse will focus on the "I am" sayings of Jesus. Jesus made bold statements, often in times of turmoil and trouble, and we can still hold onto those claims today. We are also offering Holy Communion and Prayerful Meditation each Wednesday night at 6 pm in the Builder's Chapel. Please join us.
We're still aglow from Super Bold Sunday, when we made over 16,000 meals for hungry Arkansans in one Sunday morning!
At Lakewood, you'll find worship services that are relevant, inspiring and authentic. On Sunday, we offer Traditional worship services at 9 and 11 am in our sanctuary AND Contemporary worship services at 9 and 11 am in Wesley Hall.
On Wednesdays, we have a Guided Meditation in the Chapel at 6 pm and our Applied Light coffeehouse worship community meets at 6:30 pm in Gibson Hall. Please be our guest!
We're located at 1922 Topf Road in North Little Rock, off North Hills and Fairway, on the way to the Old Mill and a few blocks South of McCain Blvd. Here's a map.
Many families choose Lakewood because of our programs and faith development for children and youth. Our nursery, Sunday Schools, youth programs, AfterCare Express and Mothers Day Out programs are all staffed by experienced, certified teachers, and our facilities are top-notch. And we've got lots of classes for adults of all ages.
We're also very active in serving our community. We feed our homeless brothers and sisters under the Broadway bridge. We are a major supporter of Gardner Food Pantry. We started the Ozark Mission Project. We are a Partner in Education with our neighbor, Lakewood Elementary School. And more.
You're welcome to learn more about our denomination and what Methodists believe and you're invited to join Lakewood in our mission to "Expand the Light by seeking, serving and sharing the message of Jesus Christ."
Please take a look around our website, email us if you have any questions, like us on facebook, meet our staff -- and come visit. We'd love for you to be our guest.
